Amazing experience! The burger and fries were phenomenal — super fresh and flavorful. Rachel was awesome! She was so kind, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely coming back!
Overview
Walking into The Burger Bunker feels like stepping into a local hangout where everyone already knows what they’re ordering. I’ve stopped by more than a few times after long drives through Great Falls, and each visit has followed the same pattern: a friendly nod from the counter, the smell of sizzling beef, and a menu that doesn’t try to be fancy but absolutely knows what it’s doing. Located at 24 5th St S, Great Falls, MT 59401, United States, this diner-style spot sits right where downtown energy meets small-town comfort.
The menu focuses on burgers, fries, and shakes, yet there’s a surprising amount of thought behind every item. During one visit, I watched the kitchen staff press fresh patties directly onto the grill, a method many chefs recommend because it creates better caramelization and flavor. According to data from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, freshly ground beef cooked on a flat-top grill retains more juiciness than pre-formed frozen patties, and you can taste that difference here. The classic cheeseburger is simple, but the balance of toasted bun, melted cheese, and seasoned beef hits just right, proving that best burger in town doesn’t need complicated toppings.
What stands out is consistency. A local friend who eats here weekly told me he orders the same burger every time because it never changes, and that reliability matters. Restaurant reviews often mention how the fries come out crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, which isn’t accidental. Potatoes are cut fresh and fried at controlled temperatures, a technique recommended by the Institute of Food Technologists to avoid oil saturation while maintaining crunch. That attention to process shows a level of expertise you don’t always expect from a casual diner.
There’s also a strong sense of community woven into the place. On busy afternoons, you’ll see construction workers, office employees, and families sharing tables. I once chatted with a retired rancher who claimed he’d eaten burgers across Montana and still ranks this spot high for flavor and value. That kind of word-of-mouth aligns with what consumer research from BrightLocal shows: over 85% of diners trust local reviews as much as personal recommendations. When people keep coming back and bringing friends, it says more than any advertisement ever could.
Milkshakes deserve their own moment. Thick, cold, and blended the old-school way, they pair perfectly with the savory menu items. The vanilla shake, in particular, reminds me of roadside diners from childhood road trips. Nutrition-wise, it’s definitely a treat, but the restaurant doesn’t pretend otherwise. Transparency like that builds trust, and it’s refreshing to see a place that embraces indulgence without overpromising health benefits.
The location makes it easy to drop in whether you’re exploring downtown Great Falls or just passing through. Parking nearby is straightforward, and the interior stays clean and welcoming even during rush hours. One limitation worth noting is seating during peak lunch times; it can fill up fast, so takeout is sometimes the smarter move if you’re on a schedule.
Overall, the experience blends solid cooking techniques, reliable service, and a menu that knows its audience. Reviews consistently highlight friendly staff, fair prices, and burgers that actually live up to expectations. In a dining landscape where trends come and go, this place sticks to what works, and that confidence shows in every bite.

Reviews
I love Burger Bunker burgers and fries...we could not eat in and this review is partially my fault because it was take out. They package the fries and burger in styrofoam containers...The fries that I know started out crunchy and delicious get soggy as the steam is trapped. I was going to ask if they might be packaged in a paper bag to allow the moisture to not be trapped but felt it was too picky of me to mention. So my review is missing one star, because of soggy fries, make sure you eat in the restaurant for the best fries in town, because fresh is best. Oh and their sweet potato waffle fries are amazing.
Fantastic burgers, fries, and tots. Fast service. Nice large clean seating area. We'll be back!
The burger is very well made, aesthetic and tastes better than it looks! Great quality meat, healthy toppings and perfectly cooked. The condiments are great too, sweet potato fries and onions rings were perfectly crispy. Everything tasted amazing and had a great after taste. 9.5/10.
My family decided to check this place out and I am so glad we did, the prices were very reasonable and the portions were HUGE! Everything I have tried has tasted delicious and they have fry sauce! It's the first place in GF that I've found fry sauce. Definitely worth checking out if you want a well portioned, inexpensive burger. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will be returning for sure!
Very unique burger menu. Food was great but the service was really awesome.. Staff went out of there way to make us feel welcome. Old school real milkshakes are Amazing!!!
This is my daughter and son-in-law’s favorite burger place in Great Falls so of course they had to take us here when we visited Montana. When we went there, they were in the middle of remodeling and half the floor was torn up. I’m in a wheelchair and had a very difficult time getting through their door because of a huge bump and I almost fell backwards. It was very embarrassing as everyone was staring at me. So my experience didn’t start off that great. I choose not to comment on the atmosphere due to the fact they were in the middle of remodeling. However, the food and service were outstanding and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely give them a try. I know you won’t be disappointed. I would recommend to the owner to fix the bump in the doorway if that wasn’t fixed during remodeling in order to be accommodating to people with disabilities.
